Find your way into God’s night
Where Heaven’s candles, flaring bright
Set fire to the canopy
And sear the satin tree-palms white.
Perhaps a bit on the dramatic side, but if
you can’t write bombastic music, what’s the point? Bits and pieces of
this song find their way into numerous episodes of The Bright Path
Podcast, which tells you how much I like it.
“Valediction” is a piano piece I wrote in 2014 and recorded very recently. It’s in a neo-Romantic style with some hints of early-Twentieth Century impressionism. This is rather a different soundscape than most of my other piano music, but I think you’ll find it an easy listen. It’s among my top three favorites among my own music.
Episode 38: A Vigorous Legal Argument drops on Wednesday. But here are three tracks that appear in the show, exclusively for you lovely Bright Path Podcast listeners (and visitors to website).
Justice. In the 2005 production of Paradise Lost, Satan sang this number while inventing the word ‘Justice’ to describe his plan for revenge against God. This track is the accompaniment to the vocalist. The song appears in Episode 38 of The Bright Path Podcast. brighpathbook.com.
They Will Know Right. Satan sang this number in the 2005 production of Paradise Lost to describe his plan to use Adam and Eve to exact vengeance on God. This track is the accompaniment to the vocalist. It appears in Episode 38 of The Bright Path Podcast.
Victory and Triumph. Satan and his lieutenants celebrate after achieving an epic victory. This track is the accompaniment to the vocalist. It appears in Episode 38 of The Bright Path Podcast.
I recorded this track in 2011 with Danielle Erin Rhodes, a consummate Broadway-caliber musical theater actress. The song features in a key role in The Bright Path, and particularly The Bright Path Podcast — so please enjoy!
